In Person
In the Arab world hospitality is part of the core of the culture. Our hospital has a long tradition of visiting the community in their homes, and the earliest global workers here were known for
“sitting with the people” (eating with them, visiting them, speaking their language and caring for them). This session will share ways that this practice is ongoing in several different ways and to meet different needs. We have found new and expanded multiplying opportunities that have been received well and with positive feedback from the local community that we serve.
Some of the Specific Practices:
-postpartum mom and baby visits by nurses
-social visits to patient families after events such as new babies, birthdays, holidays or just for fellowship
-group visits by hospital staff to the houses of important leaders in the community
-chronic conditions health education program by nurse/volunteer teams to members of a minority community
