Our teams often are made up of about a third medical providers (physicians, dentists, physician assistants, nurse practitioners), a third allied health professionals (nurses, pharmacists, optometrists, ophthalmology, physical therapists, occupational therapists), and about a third those with no particular medical skills, whom we call servants. Our non-medical servants may help out in the pharmacy, run an eye clinic, assist in triage, or carry out a number of other tasks. We do emphasize the spiritual aspect of our service during twice daily praise and worship, devotions/ testimonies, and every evening to share our God sightings of the day. We learn and grow from each other. We often have medical, dental, nursing, and allied health students on our teams, and the opportunity to mentor and disciple in both health-related and spiritually-related areas is a high point of the experience for many trip participants.
