Chief Executive Officer, Christian Medical & Dental Associations (Sept 1)
Our postmodern culture has abandoned notions of abiding and universal truth and embraced autonomy and tolerance. Finding any reason to hope is problematic for those who increasingly find faith irrelevant at best and the enemy often. The authentic disciple of Jesus Christ in healthcare "overflows with hope through the power of the Holy Spirit" (Romans 15:13) and counters the despair of the world in which he or she lives. Such hope produces actions that are self-sacrificing and motivated by Christ's compassion, whether or not the Christ follower is serving in their own community or as an alien and stranger in a foreign culture in a land far away.
