CMDA's Arizona Representative, Dr. Allan Sawyer, has served numerous times in Papua New Guinea, Cameroon, Togo, and Kenya with World Medical Mission (Samaritan’s Purse), and has also traveled with Samaritan’s Purse on special assignments to Haiti and Burundi. After nearly 25 years in private OB/GYN practice, Dr. Sawyer left private practice in January 2017 and now devotes himself to teaching, serving and relieving long-term missionaries at hospitals in developing countries. In May 2018, he and his wife, Teresa, celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary. Together they have four children, two sons, and two adopted twin daughters from China. In addition to his medical mission work, he also is a Liberty University (online) School of Divinity student and is a member of Samaritan’s Purse’s Disaster Assistance Response Team (DART). In 2016 he was honored by his medical school alma mater, Oral Roberts University, as the Alumnus of the Year in the category of "Going Into Every Person's World."
